Still Moving: A 50K Challenge to End MS
I live with MS.
A body that resists.
A will that won’t quit.
This May,
I’ll move fifty kilometers —
on my tricycle,
with my rollator,
one way or another.
Some days I glide.
Some days I struggle.
But every step says:
I’m still here.
Still moving.
Still hoping.
I’m doing this for me,
for the 2.8 million in the world,
for all of us waiting on a cure.
Walk with me.
Push with me.
Support the research.
And help bring a world without MS closer.
P.S. I have Ehlers-Danlos too, which can mess with how my body absorbs vitamin D — and low vitamin D is linked to MS. So it’s not just about supplements, but making sure they actually work.
My Updates

A Month Well Spent

When I first started this challenge, I honestly didn’t think I’d reach the 50 km goal.
And yet—114 km later—I’m incredibly proud. I cycled through rain, wind, and pain. I got cranky when EDS gut issues made it impossible, and pushed through the days when cycling with arm pain somehow made me feel better. Some days, I went out just because I knew it would brighten the day.
I’m not stopping here. I plan to keep going—and to keep snapping photos of the little verge-side treasures I find, so I can draw them later at home. ♥

Feeling Grateful

I’ve been blown away by the generosity flowing into my May 50K challenge — from amazing local supporters (you know who you are!) to… a band from Atlanta?!?
Thanks to some Facebook sleuthing and a gently-executed interrogation of one of my sons, I discovered he shared my fundraising link with his favourite band — and they donated. I'm still a bit stunned!
Whether you're nearby or across the ocean, your support means the world to me. Every donation, every kind word, every share is helping me move — one pedal push and rollator step at a time — toward a future without MS.
And speaking of my son — he drew a picture of me in my travel wheelchair for the May 50K. (Yes, even the hair was accurate!)
I only use the chair when MS fatigue hits hard or for long journeys where it might — but knowing he sees me showing up however I can meant the world.
Also — a huge thank-you to my husband, who is my tech support, route planner, GPS, step-stool provider, and all-around cheer squad. I couldn’t do this without him. 💛
Thank you all. I feel turbocharged. 🚲💨

Daunting Day One

Sneakers? Essential. And thankfully, my husband left me the foldable step before heading to work — I figure I can perch on it while plugging in the electric pedal assist.
Wait… is it even charged? I should probably check that first.
Next up: sneakers — and then the best feeling ever…
Flying full speed through the wide, open Dutch countryside on a smooth fietspad (bike path made just for moments like this).
I’ll omit the expletives between now and actually sitting on the bike — LOL.
For now, my brain sounds like this:
“Sneakers > socks > bike… wait, no. Socks > sneakers > bike!
Or maybe socks > sneakers > KEYS > bike... Did I eat breakfast? Did I take my ADHD meds? Uh-oh! What was I doing?”
I didn’t manage to cycle all day — two new pain spots and some EDS cramps had other ideas. But I told my husband I didn’t want Day One to become Day None. So I ditched the confusing map apps and relied on the best GPS I have: my husband.
We cycled out through Midden-Delfland and covered 9.44 km today. A solid start to the May 50K!
